Pilar Macchione from New York, studied at Polimoda in Florence, Italy; University of the Arts London, England and UCLA for a Master of Arts in Costume Design. Designing under her namesake brand, Pilar’s body of work has won accolades in Italy, London, Russia and China. Her work has been published in Elle Magazine UK, including Italian biannual magazine, Collezioni Primavera/ Estate 2012. In 2013, she was nominated by LA Weekly for best Costume Designer for the Los Angeles production Patty. She has also shown presentations in India and in NYC.
Living abroad in New Delhi, India, gave Pilar a profound design experience. This exposure working with local craftsman gave way to an appreciation of traditional values and artistic heritage that inspired her to create beautifully handcrafted custom pieces.
Pilar’s focus in fashion has shifted gears to respond resourcefully and respectfully to the rapidly changing world. Her new centered approach reimagines social and environmental interactions that reexamine design in a new sustainable perspective.
